It’s Raining, It’s Pouring

I foolishly mentioned a possible observing session on Twitter so, of course, it has rained solidly since.

I was hoping to get out and do some of the Abell Planetaries mentioned in the latest copy of the Deep Sky newsletter from BAA.

At least I have been able to complete the second assignment of my OU course, albeit after having to ask for a week extension.

What’s Goin’ On?!

I’m afraid nothing very interesting has been happening in the Backyard, and certainly no Sketching.

I finished and failed the exam for S282 in October which was kinda (read very very very) disheartening but I have started another OU course – MST121.

I really want to try and get out with the telescope sometime soon, but I’m convinces there hasn’t been a clear sky now for at least a year! There are still two Televue Ethos eyepieces in my case that have never seen the dark sky! Perhaps someone else could make better use of them – for a good price :D

The Weather Station has been running well since I got a decent USB->Serial converter to connect to my PC. I need to upgrade the wind speed thingy (very technical I know!) and sometime soon mount it somewhere not quite so shaded and surrounded by buildings.

Weather Station Back

Hopefully

In that its plugged into a PC with a USB –> Serial Adapter and Weather Underground updated when it should have.

Fingers crossed…

It’s cold, by the way :)

[edit - 00:32 29/11/08]

Solved by having to spend £30 on a decent(!) USB –> Serial adapter and about £50 on Weather Display. Still, it’s working now and I get to see how really, really cold it is now.

The live weather page now reside at Weather Display Live. Crap not updated very often web page is at Weather.

Obama is PRESIDENT! First of all, wow! Best. News. Ever. I only hope we don't expect him to fix everything in a week...
